Geography

Geography at LMDC strives to be topical, motivating, stimulating and challenging.

We aim to give every pupil access to a relevant and interesting curriculum where they can become effective contributors to the issues and topics being taught. Geography aims to create successful learners where pupils can access and learn a range of subject specific and transferable skills – graphicacy, literacy, numeracy, ICT, problem solving, team work, thinking skills and enquiry. We aim to both inform and engage our students in order to produce well-informed citizens for our future.

This exciting course is based on a balanced framework of physical and human geography. It allows students to investigate the link between the two themes, and approach and examine the battles between the man-made and natural worlds.

Students who complete the course will have the skills and experience to progress onto A-level and beyond.

The ‘Geography Rocks’ Team at LMDC supports its students by offering a mix of fixed and flexible Everest sessions. These support sessions are open to all students and are available as 1:1 support, group focus such as GCSE revision or masterclass skills,  to catch up on missed classwork or to provide support for homework tasks. Chromebooks are available at each of these sessions. Students just need to book in a timeslot with their teacher. or attend the timetabled sessions each week.
